Blown-In Insulation

Contractors insulation blown Fiberglass insulation’s main component is fine glass fibers, derived
from natural ingredients such as sand and recycled glass products like
windows and beverage bottles. Fiberglass is the most widely used home
insulator, and is also used to reduce noise transfer room to room.

Fiberglass insulation comes in a variety of R-values, and is manufactured in batts and rolls.

Blown
insulation (also called blowing wool) is designed for thermal
efficiency and to reduce noise transfer and improve acoustics. Blown
insulation can also be added to attics where batts have been installed
to fill any spaces where the batt does not fit tightly.
Blown
fiberglass insulation is ideal for use when reinsulating an existing
home. By simply creating a small access point in the area to be
insulated, fiberglass insulation can be blown into the cavity. Blown
insulation can also be added to attics where batts have been installed
to fill any spaces where the batt does not fit tightly.

We use two types of blown in insulation: OPTIMA from CertainTeed and JM Spider from Johns Manville.

OPTIMA

OPTIMA
gives homes a custom-designed, seamless, thermally efficient
sound-reducing blanket that completely fills any void. No other product
installs better or performs better than OPTIMA.

OPTIMA fiberglass
insulation is blown behind a special OPTIMA fabric, or equivalent, in
new construction. It can also be used for retrofitting existing
sidewalls. This product is designed for closed-cavity applications only.

System Benefits:

  • Blown in dry
  • No drying required-immediately ready for drywall
  • Thermally efficient-fills voids for higher R-Values per inch
  • Excellent sound control
  • Little dust-quick clean-up
  • More uniform application
  • Won't settle
  • GREENGUARD® Children & Schools Certified
  • Formaldehyde-Free

JM SPIDER
JM
Spider Custom Insulation is a spray-in fiberglass insulation system. It
fills framing cavities completely, leaving no gaps or voids. This
system is a combination of lightweight fiberglass and a revolutionary
adhesive binder that keeps the product in place and prevents settling.

The
system uses fiberglass with 25 percent recycled content and is
protected against mold growth with an EPA-registered mold and mildew
inhibitor. JM Spider is part of Johns Manville’s complete line of
Formaldehyde-free™ fiberglass building insulation and improves indoor
air quality, because it’s made without formaldehyde.
